Facebook chat glitch?

Everytime I chat on facebook it only lets me send one sentence then it won't let me send anything more until I close my browser and then reopen Facebook. When I press enter and then type another thing, I see it go through but after I refresh it's no longer there and no one saw it. Why is it doing this to me? ):
