My mic on my laptop just randomly stops working?

Okay so i went on skype the other day and all of a sudden it stopped working so i closed it and reopened it. i went back on my videocall and my friend couldnt hear me, but i could hear him. I checked my mic and it want recognizing my voice. I went into control panel and checked the recording device. I unclicked it and it went away and now it says 'no audio device is installed" Under the recording tab. What do i do to get it back? I have a hp pavillion dv6000. 6700 to be exact and i have windows vista. Please help ):
