California: Attending traffic school to remove violation from my record after ticket has been paid for?

Stupidly, I chose to pay the fine for the speeding ticket instead of attending traffic school. Now my insurance premium has doubled because I no longer have my distinguished driver discount. How do I go about reopening the case, so I can go to traffic school and remove the ticket from my record? I don't know who to contact. All the Los Angeles county court phone numbers found are automated answering machines and there are no options to speak to an operator.
