My 2 week old iPod touch just screwed up. please help?

Alright so my I was using my texting app on my iPod when it closed out all of a sudden and wouldn't let me reopen it. I tried other apps and it did the same. Then it let me open one app and it started doing weird malifunctioning things like the screen started spliting the picture. Then I shut it off and it took like a minute to shut off versus it's normal 5 seconds. now it won't turn back on and it is completely charged. How do I fix this?
