What do i do about my nipple piercing scab?

i'm looking for an answer from a professional piercer, please. i got my nipple pierced a few months ago, and it hasn't healed yet, but i take good care of it. i was wondering if i'm supposed to remove scabbing and pus before cleaning it so the cleaning solution (epsom salt) can get inside of the piercing, or if i leave the scab? it seems that every time i pick the scab, it rips off some skin which is obviously not good. what am i supposed to do to help it heal? other tips would be appreciated! thanks :)
